Should government censor the Internet

Some governments are in the opinion that they have the rights to censored the internet. Some government censored the internet for a reason of their own. It can be political motivated, copyrights claims, infringement of intellectual properties etc.

　

Illegal music download

Music producers or recording companies claimed that people who downloaded music for free should be punishable by the law because online sharing and downloading has infringed their copyrights. They are pushing hard for law maker in their country to make new laws to prevent download and distributing of free music.

Points raised by music producers is that if everyone were to start downloading without paying the artists then there would be no one left to produce music. Though there has never been a consensus from the general public, it is understood that the album producers is making a profit by using the laws to their advantage.

In the past, music produces exist because they provide a value that is to deliver the creative work of an artist to the public. They do the recordings, editing, replicating albums, marketing and distribution. As such they really do deserved a cut of the profits made for their efforts.

The younger generations who are more IT savvy, thinked otherwise. These group of people think it is ridiculous to pay a high price for the middleman, just to listen to the work of an artist. I believed they would have agree if they were to pay a very low amount e.g a mere $20 cents to download and enjoyed a high quality original music. With this price tag, no artists would be able to survived, as most recording companies would argued.

With the advent of technologies, copying and sharing among people has been on the rise because of its "Effectiveness and Cost Saving". This trend is no way in sight going to stop, instead it is obvious this will be the future way for distributing contents.

This is a consumer value added feature that has been brought about by technologies. Industries has been evolving. Not only the music industry is affected but the music industry is in a dire need for a overhaul. Technologies is phasing out the middleman profits business model in this case.

Take for instance "Gangnam style", sang by Korean rap singer Psy has record over 400 millions view on the youtube. If each view is charged, just 20 cents and paid direct to the singer, he would have made 80 millions for his effort.

Perhaps, it is time artist should be the one who dictate whom he want to hire to do editing, recording and distribution of his creation.

Beside the challenge faced by the music industry, jobs or industry that has already been phased out are

Typewritter, previous operated by typist. Now it is replaced by PC based word processor and it can be done everyone.

The photo film maker, used in film based camera. Nowadays, all cameras are digital based.

Video recorder and player, substituted by software based program that run on smart phone, can be played on smart phone, tablets and PCs.

As with all the things that is evolving, the only evolution I longing for to see in my life time, is the fossile fuel be replaced by some renewable energy that is free.
